Text mode at boot

To enter text mode at boot without loading the GUI,1

sudo systemctl set-default multi-user.target
sudo reboot

To switch back to GUI mode at boot:

sudo systemctl set-default graphical.target
sudo reboot

6       runlevel6.target, reboot.target     Shut down and reboot the system
